Our targets
In addition to reducing our own environmental footprint, we also engage with employees, customers, and suppliers to be more environmentally conscious. To allocate its resources efficiently, CETIN Hungary has prioritized energy efficiency and climate change, waste management, and the circular economy as focus areas for its environmental strategy. We plan to formalize Group-wide strategy in one overarching policy, articulating our commitments and environmental goals.
Set SBTi target by 2024
Ambition to reduce emissions by 40 % in Scopes 1 and 2 by 2030
Progressively reduce electricity consumption reaching 7 GWh cumulative savings by 2025
Reuse, resell or recycle 100% of decommissioned network equipment by 2025
Science-based emission reduction targets
Our holding company e&PPF Telecom Group has set near-term company-wide emission reductions in line with climate science with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Within the framework e&PPF Telecom Group B.V. commited to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 42% by 2030 from a 2022 base year and absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, capital goods and fuel- and energy related activities 25% within the same timeframe. We will actively support the implementation of the Group-level SBTi targets. Within our own operations, our objective, aligned with Group commitments, is to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% by 2030 compared to the 2022 baseline year.
Actions to reduce our electricity consumption
We will invest in energy efficiency solutions and equipment such as technology, power supply, and cooling modernization, allowing us to save a substantial amount of electricity consumption. Our 2022 target was to achieve 7 GWh of cumulative savings by 2025. In 2025, we set the objective to further strengthen energy efficiency and consistently maintain the savings trajectory
Reuse, resell or recycle 100% of decommissioned network equipment
We will ensure that all our decommissioned network equipment and other network waste will either be reused, resold, or recycled to ensure no such waste ends in landfill or in incineration.
Science-based emission reduction targets
We cover 100% of our electricity consumption with energy sourced from renewable sources. In addition, we support the reduction of our energy use and emissions across multiple areas of our operations in parallel. We promote improvements in energy efficiency through targeted measures under the CETIN 5Green program, including the modernization of network infrastructure, optimization of cooling equipment, and the continuous monitoring and reduction of energy consumption.
Actions to reduce our electricity consumption
We exceeded our previous target of achieving 7 GWh of cumulative savings by 2025, reaching 9.9 GWh driven by our effective energy efficiency program. Energy efficiency remained a key focus; as a result of further measures, by the end of 2025 we achieved approximately 12.2 GWh of cumulative annual electricity savings. These savings are reached through initiatives such as smart cooling, power saving features implemented in our RAN networks and replacement of technology for more energy efficient.
